Inclement Weather Closing Information
Our commitment is to maintain regular school operations throughout the year, but during inclement weather, our decisions are guided by current and expected weather conditions, as well as road safety, which can impact our students and families during school hours. In these situations, the District has the option of using an emergency day or an eLearning day. Traditional snow days with no student attendance are called “emergency days”. Emergency days must be made up by adding a school day to the end of the school calendar, whereas eLearning days count as school attendance days.
If weather conditions prompt District #7 to use an emergency day, modify bus schedules, or implement an eLearning day, we will promptly communicate these changes. While extreme weather can be unpredictable, we aim to make closure or eLearning decisions by 5 a.m., whenever possible. District #7 will notify you only if we are using an emergency day or an eLearning day, if school is canceled, or if bus schedules are changed. Additionally, on inclement weather days, Kid Zone will be closed, and further information will be provided to families enrolled in the program.
District #7 e-Learning Plan
For any District #7 family that does not have internet access at home, please contact your building principal and the school will work to support this need.
When District #7 cancels school or holds an eLearning day due to inclement weather, families will receive an email, recorded phone call, and text message through School Messenger. School Messenger uses the contact information provided during registration and stored in PowerSchool. If your contact details have changed, please update them with your child’s school. All information is kept secure and confidential.
School closure information will also be posted on the District website (www.ecusd7.org) and shared on District Facebook and Instagram pages. Local TV stations (KMOV 4, KSDK 5, and FOX 2) will also be notified.
